Microsoft, Fujitsu Siemens and T-Mobile are among the first adopters of Ad Pepper's semantic iSense Network.
The brands have signed up to advertise across the iSense network, which is based on the linguistics patents of British professor David Crystal and works by understanding the context of a web page to serve the most relevant ads across it.
Other brands signed up to the network include National Express and 3M. Publishers in the network include Trinity Mirror and Global Radio.
Sacha Carton, head of iSense and director of Ad Pepper's board, said, "The explosion in online content offers huge online advertising opportunities but ads are still largely irrelevant because of the inability to understand the true sense and theme of web pages."
Ad Pepper won the first IAB/Sky Digital Innovators Award, supported by new media age, in February
